The federal government of the United States owns more than 650 million acres of public lands. Most of this acreage is administered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), United States Forest Service (USFS), the National Park Service (NPS), and the US Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS). State and local entities hold another ~200 million acres of public lands, including state parks and monuments, regional parks, etc.
